Use These Tips To Have Better Business Security For Your Employees

By Mark Mahaffey

If you own your own business, you are no doubt interested in keeping your employees safe from crime. And it is your job to do everything possible to educate them on how to lessen the chances that they will be the victim of a crime. Business security is something that you should take very seriously.

Educating your employees about business security is one of the first action steps to take when increasing the security of your business. Teaching them how to be safe will go a long way. You can hold regular meetings where you teach them, step by step, what your business safety and security policies are.

Dealing with money is a good place to start. Do your employees take the money to the back after hours each day? This can put them at an increased risk of being mugged. This is especially true if your employees follow a regular schedule of closing the shop and then driving to the bank with the deposit. There could be criminals watching and learning the routine.

There are some smart guidelines to follow to increase your business security when it comes to taking the day's money to the bank. First, make sure that there are always at least two employees going to the bank. If just one person goes, that person is in greater danger, because it is easier to mug someone who is alone.

Being aware of their surroundings is another important part of safety, and should be part of what you teach them about business security. Being walking to their car, your workers should scan the parking area to see if anything looks odd. If they notice strange people or anything else that looks suspicious, they should not go out into the parking lot.

When they arrive at the bank, it is a good idea to check the lighting around the deposit slot at the bank. The darker it is, the more dangerous it is. Also, make sure that they keep a cell phone handy to call for help if someone should attempt to rob them.
